INTRO TEXT:

The Alphabétique series began as a method to explore the kind of character study I was interested in pursuing. Each poetry illustration is inspired by my enthusiasm for fashion and interior design, and their words seek to explore the vast range of human existence, from humor to love to grief and everything in between.

ARTIST STATEMENT:

During childhood, I would frequently be found with my dollhouses, making art in the sunroom, or wandering the hidden trails around the barn. The aesthetic and literary lands of Lewis Carroll, Agatha Christie, Edward Gorey, and Shel Silverstein were my muses of choice, and their work inspires what I create today. My illustrated poems harken back to those youthful years, and their creation makes me feel like I am back making up stories for those dolls and playing pretend, now infused with an endless interest in human behavior. Each one is a curiosity for and celebration of the multitudes we hold within us. I live and work on the north Oregon coast.
