A Selfiehood Soliloquy

"To be, or not to be? That is the question.”

 Hamlet, Act Three, Scene One

“Whether tis nobler in the mind to suffer

The memes and emoticons of social media

Or to take arms against a sea of avatars

And by opposing end retweets. To quit the clicks – to post no more selfies,

No more views; and by a final post we end our sends

The heart-ache and the thousand clicks and comments

That selfiehood is heir to. Tis a consummation

Devoutly to be a favorite. To pull the plug, no longer LinkedIn;

To never snapchat, perchance to dream -ay there’s the rub.

For in that unconnected sleep mode what profile may come

When we have signed off from sharing on social media

Must give us pause.  There’s the respect

That makes calamity of saying so long to selfiehood.”
